Plumbing problems in Barcelona

These are the faults we see most in Barcelona flats and why they happen. If one sounds familiar, call before it gets worse.

  • Limescale in taps, heaters and washing machines: Barcelona has some of the hardest water in Spain. Limescale clogs aerators, burns out water-heater elements and lowers pressure.
  • Water heater not heating or dripping: usually the element, thermostat or safety valve, almost always because of limescale. Often it can be repaired without a new heater.
  • Leaks reaching the flat below: a stain on their ceiling usually comes from your bathroom or kitchen. We find the source without breaking more than needed and give you an invoice and report for your insurer.
  • Old lead or iron pipes: in older buildings they rust inside, leak and turn the water cloudy. We replace them section by section, without redoing the whole flat.
  • Blocked shared downpipes: in older buildings they cause smells and water backing up into the shower or sink. We work with the residents' association or building manager.
  • Slow kitchen and shower drains: grease, hair and limescale build up in the trap and pipe until the water stops draining.

Plumbing FAQs

How much does a plumber cost in Barcelona?

Labour starts at €39 and an emergency call-out at €89. We give you the full price on the call or when we see the fault, before starting, and you decide.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

If there is one, we tell you how much on the call, before anyone is sent. No surprises on the bill.

How quickly can you get here?

For emergencies, usually in under an hour in Barcelona and the metropolitan area, depending on availability. We confirm the time on the call.

Who comes to my home?

A professional plumber from a local company that works with us. They give you the price, do the job and hand you the invoice with the guarantee.

Do I get an invoice for my home insurance?

Yes. Always with an invoice, and if the fault affects a neighbour we give you a report of the source to send to your insurer.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes. Every repair comes with a written guarantee on the invoice. If something fails, the plumber comes back to check it.

Do you work nights, weekends and holidays?

Yes, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. If a night or holiday rate applies, we confirm it on the call before anyone is sent.

How do I pay?

You pay the plumber when the job is finished: card, cash or Bizum. Always with an invoice and a written guarantee.
